The role of lay PPIP members is to:
-
Meet with the Programme Manager and/or Programme Leads at Steering Group Meetings on a
quarterly basis over a12-month period.
-
Offer a patient and/or public perspective on the overall aims and objectives of the Programme.
-
Exchange ideas, and offer assistance with internal assessment and recruitment to the Programme.
-
Assist with recruitment of volunteers to assist with Programme delivery and development for
individual semesters.
Lay PPIP members do not need to be a patient, or have a training or teaching background. They are required to attend four PPIP meetings each year, as well as meetings of the Steering Group, if possible.
At the first meeting of the PPIP, members were asked to sign a Confidentiality Agreement to ensure effective governance of the teaching programme.
Meetings of PPIP are held at Fulham Education and Development Centre in London. The meetings will be approximately 3 hours in length.
The Paramedic Programme's PPIP members who will attend meetings are:
-
Paul Bates (Programme Manager)
-
Dominic Browne (Programme Lead)
-
Angela Hilliard (Programme Lead)
An Agenda will be distributed about one week before each PPIP meeting, with a reminder of the time and place.
Travel expenses will be paid and an Honorarium of £20.00 will be available for each meeting attended. Claim forms will be available on the day.
Others attending Steering Group meetings, in addition to PPIP members, include student representatives and tutors from the Education and Standards Department. A member of the team will take notes.
